Recognized by the ABA as a Legal Rebel and by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers (North America) as one of the top 20 most innovative lawyers, Michele DeStefano is a Professor of Law at the University of Miami and a Faculty Chair in Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Program and Guest Faculty at IE School of Law. She is the founder of LawWithoutWalls, a part-virtual experiential learning community of more than 2,000 lawyers, business professionals, entrepreneurs, and students that leverages intergenerational, cross-culture, multi-disciplinary collaboration to create innovations in the business of law and, importantly, change the mindsets, skillsets, and behaviors of legal professionals. Recently, Michele helped co-create the Digital Legal Exchange, a non-profit designed to inspire general counsel and their teams to become digital leaders in their businesses to drive commercial value. DeStefano researches, writes, and speaks about creative problem solving, collaboration, culture change, and innovation in law. Her latest books include Legal Upheaval: A Guide to Creativity, Collaboration, and Innovation in Law and New Suits: Appetite for Disruption. Her new book, It’s as Easy as 3-4-5: A Method for Innovation, Collaboration, and Culture Change in Professional Services will be published Fall 2022. Michele earned her B.A.,magna cum laude, from Dartmouth and J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
Bjarne Philip Tellmann
Bjarne Philip Tellmann is General Counsel and member of the Executive at Haleon, a global leader in consumer health. The group employs over 22,000 people across 170 markets, united by Haleon’s purpose – to deliver better everyday health with humanity. The company, a FTSE 20, de-merged from GSK and listed on the London and New York Stock Exchanges in July 2022.
Bjarne was previously CLO, General Counsel and member of the Executive at Pearson, a FTSE 100. Prior to that he worked across Europe, Asia and the United States in senior capacities with Coca-Cola, most recently as Associate General Counsel of The Coca-Cola Company. He has also held positions at Kimberly-Clark, Sullivan & Cromwell and White & Case.
Bjarne has served on various boards, including Mowi ASA, one of Norway’s largest public companies, Coca-Cola West Co., Ltd., a publicly traded beverage business in Japan; Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG, Germany’s largest beverage company, and Hire an Esquire, an innovative, technology-driven legal recruiting business. He currently serves on The Futures Group of the UK Civil Justice Council, which advises the Government on the long-term impact of technology on the administration of justice.
Bjarne has been Academic Visitor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, The University of Chicago, and The London School of Economics.
He writes regularly on leadership, disruption and digital transformation. His book, Building an Outstanding Legal Team came out in 2017 and he has a forthcoming law review article on digital transformation in the Journal of Business and Technology Law.
Bjarne has received numerous awards, including Chambers’ “GC Influencers Global 100”, Legal Era’s “General Counsel of the Year” and “General Counsel of the Year” at The British Legal Awards. His team was a standout in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards and he received The Legal 500’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2018 for his services to the in-house profession.
