Fundamentals of Strategic Thinking for In-House Counsel: Leveraging Legal Skills to Win at Business

Event Description

In-House Lawyers have unique skills that can transform legal departments from loathed gatekeeper to celebrated gateway, provided those skills are strategically leveraged. In-House Lawyers in particular have the opportunity and ability to uncover underperforming or non-performing assets and can then educate innovators, managers, and executives about how to convert them into revenue generators.

Join us at 12pm ET on September 29, for the next edition of our Legal Innovation Series, as Kelley Keller, Intellectual Property Attorney, Strategic Legal Advisor and Founder of Big Bang Legal, a legal education company, teaches us how to use legal strategy as a business force multiplier that will elevate any business’s earning potential.

By focusing on strategic elements hidden within the labyrinth of the law, Kelley’s presentation will ensure attendees walk away with a better understanding of:

–  their full potential as in-house counsel

–  the unique strategic role they play within the company, and

–  practical steps for expanding from their role as mere tools of compliance into one that provides a dynamic strategic advantage to the business.

This presentation will teach attendees how to use their legal knowledge to create, implement, and manage a sustainable and productive business strategy that helps legal departments emerge from their one-dimensional role of compliance into a proactive agent that provides their companies with a competitive edge.

Kelley Keller, Esq. is a 25-year veteran of the intellectual property field, during which she has helped global brands and small businesses protect their brands, creativity, and innovation and has seen it all—from the biggest mistakes to the biggest victories. Her unique experience gives her incredible insights into the holistic relationship between intellectual property.

Kelley works with companies in various stages of development, and their in-house legal departments, by helping them build stronger legal/business partnerships that facilitate the transformation of both tacit and codified knowledge, creativity, and innovation into high value strategic assets that, when leveraged properly, increase revenue and drive competitive edge.

Kelley’s personal law practice also includes representing clients on a broad range of domestic and international intellectual property issues, with an emphasis on trademark and copyright matters, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and providing counsel and advice on brand expansion and management, domain name disputes, copyright protection, and new media law. She works closely with patent attorneys skilled in various arts to assist clients in determining the best protection strategies for their inventions.

In addition to her legal work, Kelley Keller takes the awe out of the law …. for ordinary people who haven’t received formal legal training. Kelley is on a mission to turn the tide of legal illiteracy by creating educational content that explains the foundational elements of our legal system, demystifies the laws it creates, and illustrates how it works (or is supposed to work), so ordinary people can participate in and engage with legal systems without fear or apology. To learn more and engage with Kelley’s content, visit KelleyKeller.com

Kelley furthers her passion for education as an adjunct professor of Copyright and Trademark Law at Widener University Commonwealth School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she has taught since 2020.

Looking for a legal expert (who speaks plain English) to guest on your next podcast or keynote your virtual or live event?

Kelley’s high-energy, informative talks inspire, encourage, and empower people, whether an ordinary citizen or CEO of a multinational company, to embrace the law, rather than run from it. To book Kelley to speak, you can reach her here.
