Amanda M. Leone

Amanda is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Trusts & Estates practices. Her practice is focused onlitigating an array of complex commercial matters in state and federal court, including business torts, breach of contract claims,employment disputes, and securities litigation, and concerning Trusts & Estates litigation, Amanda is very active in Surrogate’s Courtlitigation.

Amanda received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2013. While at Seton Hall, she was Managing Editor of the Journalof Sports & Entertainment Law, a member of the Interscholastic Moot Court Board, and the 2013 recipient of the Advanced LegalWriting Award for best law article in her graduating class. After graduating from Seton Hall, Amanda served as law clerk to theHonorable Thomas R. Vena, J.S.C. in New Jersey Superior Court, Essex County. Prior to joining Tannenbaum Helpern, Amanda was anassociate at Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein & Celso in Whippany, New Jersey. 

 

 

Daniel J. Horwitz

Daniel J. Horwitz is a partner in Tannenbaum Helpern’s Criminal Defense and Litigation and Dispute Resolution practices. A highlyexperienced trial attorney, Dan is known for his masterful style and a uniquely creative and strategic approach to his cases, as well as hisstrong legal acumen.

Dan is well known throughout the Federal and State criminal and civil courts in New York, dating back to his tenure with theManhattan District Attorney’s Office where he served in the Frauds Bureau investigating and prosecuting complex white-collar crimes,including securities, procurement and tax fraud.

Dan’s recent trial experience includes obtaining the full dismissal of a high-profile matter involving False Claims Act claims in which heargued a technically challenging argument under the CPLR. Dan has also secured a full victory in connection with the outrightdismissal of trading ahead, fraud and perjury charges by FINRA against the branch manager of a broker-dealer. Also recently, Dan wonan acquittal at trial of criminal charges arising from a work-place accident against an executive at a nationally-based constructioncompany at a trial in New York State Supreme Court. And in a truly compelling pro bono matter, Dan represented two men wrongfullyconvicted of murder in hearings to overturn the convictions. In that case, Dan won a hearing that resulted in the conviction beingvacated and charges dropped for one client and won a new trial for the second, at which the client was acquitted of all charges. Bothmen were ultimately freed from jail following nearly 15 years of imprisonment for crimes they never committed.

Dan frequently appears in connection with the defense of individuals and companies in white-collar criminal and regulatoryenforcement investigations, often in parallel with related complex commercial lawsuits and arbitrations. He routinely handles mattersbefore federal and state prosecutors and regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Attorneys for the Southern and Eastern Districts of NewYork, the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the Manhattan District Attorney and the New York Attorney General. Dan hasalso led numerous investigations on behalf of corporations, audit committees, special litigation committees and special boardcommittees. Further, Dan has represented clients in connection with allegations of securities fraud, corporate accounting fraud, insidertrading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, tax fraud, construction industry fraud, money laundering, public corruption, andantitrust violations.

In addition to his law practice, Dan is a Member of the New York State Judicial Screening Committee, and he currently serves on theTransition Team for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, where he was a member of the subcommittee on the Office’sInvestigation Division. Dan previously served on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Board of Commissioners, from 2017 to2023.

 

Stephen Ward

As CEO, Stephen Ward helps clients address the security vulnerabilities that come from conducting business in a global environment. After a long and successful career in the private risk sector – including leadership positions with the industry’s oldest and largest companies – Mr. Ward founded Polaris to provide what he believed these companies lacked: holistic and scalable solutions built for specific risks and clients.

Along with a broad spectrum of investigative services, Mr. Ward provides focused expertise in Brand/IP Protection and Corporate Compliance Services. Mr. Ward supervises enterprise security programs for mid-size to large-scale multinational organizations to deliver an integrated services model for Guard Force Management, Investigations, Supply Chain Security and Global Risk Ratings.

Mr. Ward previously served as CEO of an investigations and intelligence company that Pinkerton acquired. After the acquisition, he served as Vice President of Operations EMEA and United States – East Coast, and Vice President of Global Brand Protection & IP Protection Services for Pinkerton.

Prior to founding Polaris, he served as CEO of an investigations and intelligence company that was acquired by Pinkerton. After the acquisition, he served as Vice President of Operations EMEA and United States – East Coast, and Vice President of Global Brand Protection and Intellectual Property Protection Services for Pinkerton. Mr. Ward is an active member in the International Trademark Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Anti-Fraud Network, American College of Forensic Examinations, and Forbes New York Business Council. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a Certification in Trademark and Patent Law from New York University and a Certification in Cybersecurity Managing Risk Information & Data from Harvard University.

 

Laura Bolger

As Managing Director of Investigations and Intelligence, Ms. Bolger helps clients manage the full lifecycle of investigations; she oversees the process from its start – as she scopes matters to target the client’s concerns – to its finish –  as she ensures that the team’s investigative work and deliverables are properly contextualized and poised to directly address the client’s needs. Ms. Bolger conducts investigations in several practice areas, including brand protection and intellectual property, as well as pre-employment, transactional or litigation-related due diligences, and multifaceted support for FCPA matters. In addition to investigative work, she has managed corporate and event security programs for mid-to-large scale multinational organizations to deliver domestic and international threat response.

Prior to her role at Polaris, Ms. Bolger served as an Intelligence Analyst for a law enforcement and regulatory agency, monitoring industries in New York City historically influenced by Organized Crime. She went on to serve as a Senior Investigations Consultant and as a Project Manager of Corporate Risk with notable risk management firms. In these functions, Ms. Bolger managed complex fraud and global supply chain investigations, addressing suspected thefts or the movement of counterfeit goods, as well as comprehensive asset profiles and theft of trade secret matters. Ms. Bolger is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA), the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Swarthmore College, a Certification in Project Management from New York University, a Certification in Fair Credit Report Act (FCRA) Compliant Investigations from the PBSA and a Certification from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Criminal Investigation Techniques.
