Agentic AI: Navigating Legal Risks of Autonomous AI Tools for In-House Counsel
Event Description
The next evolution of artificial intelligence is here—agentic AI. These autonomous tools can independently navigate the internet, complete complex tasks, and make real-world impacts without direct human oversight. As AI agents become increasingly integrated into business operations, in-house legal teams must proactively understand their functionality and anticipate the significant legal risks they pose.
Join us on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 12pm ET / 9am PT as Brendan M. Palfreyman, Partner at Harris Beach Murtha, and Michelle Fleming, General Counsel at Bell Techlogix, explore the fundamentals of agentic AI and the critical legal issues that in-house counsel must address to prepare their organizations for this next wave of innovation.
Discussion Topics Include:
- What Is Agentic AI? Understanding how autonomous AI agents operate and impact businesses.
- Vicarious Liability and Risk Allocation: How traditional legal frameworks apply—or don’t apply—to autonomous AI actions.
- Regulatory Forecasting: Anticipating future regulatory developments around agentic AI.
- Internal AI Governance Policies: How in-house legal teams can proactively develop governance frameworks to manage AI risks.

This program is designed for in-house counsel, legal operations professionals, compliance officers, and risk management teams preparing to navigate the new frontier of autonomous AI. Legal professionals advising on technology adoption, regulatory risk, and corporate governance will find this session particularly critical.
