Leadership for In-House Counsel: How to Become a Lawyer Who Leads

-
+

Event Description

Lawyers are trained to practice law, not lead, both in law school and throughout their careers. Early experiences in law firms prioritize billable hours over opportunities for mentoring or leadership development. When transitioning to in-house roles, lawyers are excited to leave behind the constraints of the billable hour but may find themselves unprepared for the challenges of leadership in a corporate environment.

Join us on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12pm ET / 9 am PT for the next edition of our IHC Executive Skills Series as Mark LoSacco, former EVP and Head of Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement at HSBC USA, will draw on his decades of experience leading in-house legal teams to explore the root causes behind the leadership gap in the legal profession and offer a practical roadmap for growth. Attendees will gain actionable strategies to enhance their leadership effectiveness and help their teams thrive. Key topics include:

  • The challenges unique to in-house legal leadership and the two essential traits needed to overcome them.
  • Why the distinction between being “a manager” and “a leader” is more than just semantics.
  • How advances in technology, including artificial intelligence, are reshaping the legal profession and elevating the importance of exceptional leadership skills while reducing the value of the “lawyer qua lawyer.”
  • Insights into the emotions that drive personal and team performance, and why understanding these somewhat surprising motivations is critical to effective leadership.
  • The power of intrinsic motivation and how accomplished leaders leverage it to achieve extraordinary results while less impactful leaders rely on the quick-fix crutch of extrinsic motivation.

Join Mark as he shares valuable insights and tools to help in-house lawyers become transformative leaders who drive success and fulfillment for themselves and their teams.

There is NO COST to attend this LIVE program!

This program is FREE thanks to In-House Connect! If you can’t make it to the live program, the recording will be available for viewing via our paid CLE library, In-House Connect On-Demand!
