Unlocking Career Fulfillment and Wellbeing for In-House Legal Teams: Why “Not Being Miserable” is Not Enough

Event Description

The statistics are well-known: Lawyers suffer high rates of anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and other mental wellness issues.  However, almost as damaging is the insidious belief that, if one does not suffer from severe issues such as depression or substance abuse, they are “okay.”  In other words, “As long as I’m not miserable, that is good enough.”  It is not.

Join us on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 12pm ET / 9 am PT for the next edition of our IHC Mental Health Series as Mark LoSacco, former EVP and Head of Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement at HSBC USA, will draw on his decades of experience as a lawyer and executive leader, his knowledge of behavioral psychology, and his work as an Executive Leadership Coach, to discuss the reasons why lawyers disproportionately suffer mental well-being issues.  More importantly, Mark will provide practical insights and tips on how to change this paradigm and become happy and fulfilled in our profession and our lives, making us better able to serve our clients, colleagues, and others.

Discussion topics include:

  • Why people in general, and professionals in particular, are beset by anxiety, fear, and unhappiness?
  • How our “legacy brain” keeps professionals in particular in a state of fear and anxiety that does not allow us to thrive, grow professionally, and achieve the success and happiness we crave.
  • Concrete ways in which anyone can shift their paradigm from fear, anxiety, and malaise, to safety, growth, and fulfillment.
